Having been disappointed by the marin trail earlier in the week i made my way to this trail after afew days of bad weather. I agree with other reviewers that the first 4km lacks anything worth writing about however I think this is a plus. It gives you a chance to take in the forest surroundings (its also a RSPB site) while you barely notice the continous climb. Then the fun starts and it provides interweaving red/black runs for you to choose from. The first black section links together some nice table tops then flows back together with the red run. Then alittle climb on boardwalks leads to the main black run area. Most of this is fast flowing and incorporates many kickers, set ups and doubles.It is so smooth in places that the speed is carried all the way through The climbs on the black run can be alittle big but you'll be so full of adrenaline youll be near the top before you realise whats happening! Some people argue that the Black runs are more the standard of other parks red runs but i would argue the 8ft high board walk sections and drop off into a steep corkscrewing berm would not be seen on thier red runs! Worth a drive to but youll end up going round twice!! Plus a shout out to the guys in the cafe there they do a mean burger!!

I think it would be fair to say that we'd read good things of Llandegla, so when we arrived there on a misty sunday morning we had pretty high expectations - well all of us accept Andy who joined us for the first time outside of Macclesfield.
It would also be fair to say that when we returned to the carpark after a fairly long day riding we were very dissappointed. I think we felt cheated. The centre was sold as a 'Red Route' but it was little more then pedestrian. The problem stemmed from the lack of flow which led to a lack of excitement which ended up depressing us after every (short) good section to be instantly faced with a speed killing badly designed berm or uphill for no reason. Anyone would think Llandegla suffered from being to flat.
It did have one slight redemption in the form of the newly completed 'Black' section, a 20 second more freeride dh section, a little more Glentress 'Red route'. Fun but over to quick.
I think I'll sum this up by saying it feels like the forest owners have tried to cash in on the new 'freeride' bike park culture but forgot to employ the mountain biker when it came to trail building. This place isn't just dull it is down right dangerous in places. Avoid. At least until they build some better trails...

After the dull climb through the forest (take your MP3 player) the Red Trail throws some decent 4X style jumps and berms your way. Save your energy on the way up and then hammer it all the way home.
The Black rated loop isn't too dangerous and can be sessioned mid ride on an XC bike without too much drama. Watch out for scallies pushing their bikes back up though!!!
I wouldn't travel for hours to ride here, but if you're passing or live nearby it's a decent way to spend a few hours. Better than going round Ikea anyroadup!
Major winge is that it's not quite as all-weather as some manmade tracks. I've ridden it in the bucketing rain a couple of times now and you wonder if it's worth the bother when everything slows right down.
