Summary:
Top Trail, but fooked me up!

Review:
Did this as part of an Afan wknd, did a hard run of 'Y Wall' the night before so wasn't as fresh as I could have been.

First up, straight into a zig zagging single track climb up the side of the Afan valley, not to steep but grueling and technical, very easy to stall if not in the right gear so keep ur pace up.

Lots of riders stopped resting on route, managed to get to the top in one go, but finished 1.5 litres of water on the way up!

From then it was all a blur of bone shattering, rocky, mostly downhill single track. I was on a hardtail and I'd say that the guys on full suss had a definite advantage.

A couple of bits of platform which I'm not a fan of, but generally ace.

Only criticism was the number of riders there, however on a sunny Saturday of a bank holiday wknd its not going to be at its quietest. There were quite a few bottle necks at the motor bike barriers they have there, the situation was not helped by a group of riders riding in my opinion with very bad etiquette.

If you're a more experienced rider on full sus and are obviously faster than me, I'm happy to give way to let you past, but don't then stop 100 m ahead for a conference, and then have to over take me again a few minutes later. This happened with one particular group of riders about 5 times!

Fantastic challenging trail, but perhaps becomming a victim of its own popularity?

Good trail ut prepare to be knackered

Review:
Rode this for the first time today, really good trail, as one of the other reviews says there are a lot of fire roads but not too much in my opinion, give you a chance to recover between the single track which can be pretty full on, the final single track back to the car park is long and fast, I smashed round this in 3 1/2 hours but was pretty ball bagged after it!

the single track climb at the start is a proper slog, but it's well worth it for the rest.

I lovely ride, even the 6km first clikb is brilliant fun, a few too many fire roads, but the singletrack compensated greatly..the final descent is a RIPPER!! brilliant fum, slightly bruised knuckles though from over inflated tyres.. a bit painfull on the last descending sections..

just..EPIC !!

Review:
it is one of the most perfect XC mountain bike trails ever, the climb is demanding and rewarding. the section before 'Energy' is lovely..The whole trail just flows perfectly.. If you have a Hardtail, you may benefit from having tyres bigger than 2.0inch, as its quite rocky and would get more grip with a bigger more comfortable tyre.
