Glentrool's 7stanes mountain biking trails offer options for families, beginners, and experienced riders. The scenic trails provide stunning views. Riders can choose from a moderate blue trail, easy green trails for novices and families, or the forest road-based Big Country route.

The blue trail and Big Country route offer different mountain biking experiences. The blue trail provides a true mountain biking route while Big Country is better suited for touring.

Visitors can begin their ride at the Glentrool Visitor Center from March to October. The center serves food and is a good starting point to explore the various trail options in the area.

Mountain Biking trails for all levels at Glentrool

The Big Country Route

Take a day-long ride through Galloway Forest Park. The route offers stunning views of nearby lochs and hills. It traverses minor public roads and forest tracks. While not featuring technical singletrack, the "Big Country" route provides a challenging ride with long climbs and steep descents.

The Glen

Grade: Green (6.0km)

The Glen trail offers a scenic mountain biking route through Palnagashel Glen. Suitable for families seeking a leisurely pace, the short route provides views of the glen and meanders beside Black Linn along forest tracks and gentle singletrack, passing tall larch trees.

The Green Torr

Grade: Blue (9.0km)

The Green Torr trail offers stunning views over Loch Trool. The ride features mostly singletrack designed for mountain biking. With few large rocks or roots, it is suitable for less experienced riders. The most challenging part is the 218 meter climb through forest to reach the Green Torr summit. Riders are then treated to a long descent back to the Glentrool Visitor centre.
