6 August 2020  |

Canyon is excited to support Golazo Cycling for the first-ever Kings Cup Gravel Festival. The event will host the inaugural British Gravel Championships in the picturesque setting of King’s Forest in Suffolk.

British Gravel Championships

For Canyon, gravel has been a focus of ours ever since launching the iconic Grail CF platforms back in 2018. From racing, adventure, or just getting around your local area: gravel bikes are hugely versatile machines. Subsequently the event formats vary hugely, from fun filled single day events like Grinduro, through to truly epic rides across countries and continents like the Silk Road Mountain Race- and Canyon are already proud supporters of such events.

However, areas in their infancy are truly accessible, mass participation gravel events, for newcomers- as well as a format for the competitive among us to race gravel bikes.

As an event which encompasses this untrodden ground, the Kings Cup truly unique. The routes are exciting and perfect for riders of all abilities as they weave their way through the pristine King’s Forest.

On the racing side Canyon will be represented in both the women’s and men’s National Championship events with riders from Canyon DHB p/b Soreen Road Team, and ambassadors Keira McVitty and Dalila Lecky. We may even enter a few Canyon UK staff.

Canyon will be also offering demo rides throughout the weekend allowing visitors to test out our incredible gravel range first hand. From the Grail AL to the newly launch Grail:ON e-gravel model, the Kings Forest is the perfect place to ride the bikes in their natural habitat.

Events during the pandemic

Of course, these have been challenging times for everyone across the globe. And after a summer of postponed events, King’s Cup could be the perfect season ender for those itching to get back to a start line. However, the safety of our customers, staff, riders and contractors is paramount, so we will be ensuring all necessary Covid measures are in place following government guidance. Our goal with the King’s Cup Gravel Festival is to celebrate the return to sporting events as soon as government regulations permit, and once we are absolutely certain we can keep our participants safe and healthy.

Should the event not be possible on the planned dates, Golazo have contingency plans in place to allow dynamically adjusting the event date into October or 2021.

Because of the uncertainty around the current Covid-19 situation, Golazo Cycling want to provide participants with the confidence and peace-of-mind to enter events again. Riders simply register their personal details and express their interest in participating, without having to pay an entry fee. Pre- registered riders will guarantee a spot at the King’s Cup Gravel Festival when it goes ahead and receive a hugely discounted entry fee. Entry fees are only collected at a later date when the event date is confirmed. Pre-registration launched on Monday, August 3rd 2020.
