Rostrevor Mountain Bike Trails Reopen
The red and black XC trails at Rostrevor have reopened! The announcement came yesterday from Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, after months of gruelling work by Mourne Heritage Trust and council staff, cutting through thousands of trees and carrying out significant structural repairs.
Diversions remain in place in some areas along the trails where damage from Storm Éowyn was particularly extreme, however many of these will reopen in the coming weeks. Please ensure to follow any diversions when riding.
The current situation on the other trail centres is as follows:
- Davagh Forest - All trails are now open, except for Beleevna, Wolf's Hill, and Big Wig Jig, which will remain closed until further notice. A minor diversion is in place on the Green MTB / Riverside walking trail (follow the signage in place).
- Blessingbourne Estate - The trails are open and riding well, with the exception of a short diversion at the beginning of the trails. The pump track is also still closed.
- Castlewellan - Red trail has reopened, with diversions in place. Black trails remain closed.
- Barnett Demesne - Reopened and riding well.
For more up to date information on trail conditions, continue to monitor the MountainBikeNI website and social media.
