Years of riding, wet weather and erosion have taken their toll on the historic race track. The volunteer group now wants to rebuild it as a sustainable, race-ready double-black trail while retaining the character and heritage of the original line.

Plans include drainage repairs, restoring eroded sections and adding a series of challenging features. Proposed additions include rock gardens, a double jump, wooden drop, wall ride and technical jump line.

Dean Trail Volunteers aims to bring Ski Run up to the same standard as GBU, creating a trail designed for progression and advanced riders.

A crowdfunding campaign has been launched with a target of £15,000. Donations will be accepted until 18 December 2026, while riders can also support the project by volunteering at future dig days.

No construction timetable or reopening date has yet been announced.
