Warley Bike Park Saved as Council Backs Its Future
Warley Bike Park in Essex is set to remain following a decision by Brentwood Borough Council.
At a full council meeting on 23 September 2026, councillors supported a motion to retain the volunteer-built bike track at Warley Gap and explore ways to prevent its permanent closure.
The council also committed to addressing health, safety and liability concerns through practical risk-management measures, while working with riders, families and the wider community.
The future of the informal facility had been uncertain, with the council previously examining options for its management or possible relocation. The latest decision gives the riding community greater security, although no timetable for future work has been announced.
A progressively graded redesign, improved drainage, clearer signage and a dedicated return route were reportedly discussed at the meeting. However, these details should be treated as proposals until they are confirmed in the council’s published minutes.
MoreDirt will share further information when plans for the site and any effects on access are confirmed.
