2.5km of New Mountain Bike Trails Set to Open at Lochore Meadows
Mountain bikers in Fife are set to get more trails to explore, with work progressing on a 2.5km expansion of the mountain bike network at Lochore Meadows Country Park.
The project will add 2.5km of new technical mountain bike trails to the country park, with construction being carried out by Velosolutions.
Work started during the summer and is now well underway, with the new trails designed to offer riding for a range of abilities while making use of the natural landscape around Lochore Meadows.
New trails set to open in October
Lochore Meadows has confirmed that the new mountain bike trails are expected to officially open in October, although an exact opening date has yet to be announced.
The park has been sharing progress from the development, including a recent look at the new Blue Descent, one of the trails forming part of the expansion.
With construction continuing, riders will need to wait for the official opening before accessing the new trails.
Once complete, the expansion will add to the existing mountain bike facilities at Lochore Meadows and is part of plans to develop the park as a dedicated mountain biking destination in Fife.
Part of a £400,000 project
The new trails form part of a wider £400,000 investment at Lochore Meadows, combining improvements to cycling facilities with work to enhance the surrounding natural environment.
Fife Council previously confirmed that the project includes £200,000 from the Nature Restoration Fund alongside funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and council capital investment.
Alongside the new mountain bike trails, the project will also expand the ancient woodland around Harran Hill.
According to the latest update from Lochore Meadows, 6,500 native trees will be planted as part of the woodland expansion.
With the trails taking shape and an October opening now approaching, Lochore Meadows is set to offer riders even more reasons to head to the Fife country park.
