BikePark Wales Launches 2026/27 Winter Downhill Race Series
BikePark Wales has announced a new four-round Winter Downhill Race Series for 2026/27, bringing mountain bike racing to South Wales from November 2026 through to February 2027.
The series will take place across four of BikePark Wales' red and black natural technical trails — Ych A Fi, Boomslang, Root Manoeuvres and 50 Shades of Black — with riders able to enter individual rounds or compete across the full championship.
The focus for the series is fun, progression and maximum riding time. Winter is cold, nobody wants to be standing around doing nothing whilst waiting for race runs. The full bike park will be open during race weekends so even when it's not your time to go against the clock, you can lap other trails to stay warm. We will be running our usual winter uplift capacity so our tried and tested service means you can be confident you won't face the dreaded long uplift queues at race weekends.
This series offers riders the opportunity to test themselves on four demanding downhill tracks between November and February, combining competitive racing with full weekend riding options.
The four-round series will make use of our top end Red & Black natural tech trails.
BikePark Wales Winter Downhill Series 2026/27 Dates
15 November 2026 – Ych A Fi
13 December 2026 – Boomslang
17 January 2027 – Root Manoeuvres
21 February 2027 – 50 Shades of Black
From technical root sections and challenging rock gardens to high-speed turns and steep descents, each track has been selected to provide a unique test of skill throughout the winter months.
The Winter Downhill Series caters to riders looking for the flexibility of entering one or two races, as well as those planning to commit to the full championship. Entry options include a Single Round Race Entry, a Single Round Weekend Entry that combines Saturday practice uplift with Sunday uplift and race entry, and a Full Series Entry covering all four events that also includes Saturday practice uplift with Sunday uplift and race entry.
Riders opting for weekend entries can save more than 10%, while those committing to the complete series will save over 25%!
With dedicated practice available on the Saturday before each race (09:30-15:30 via our standard uplift), competitors will have the opportunity to dial in lines and prepare for race day before battling it out on Sunday (practice also available Sunday am).
Entries will be limited in number to ensure a quality racing experience while maintaining the atmosphere and organisation riders have come to expect from BikePark Wales events.
Whether racers are preparing for the upcoming race season, chasing personal progression, or simply looking for an excuse to keep riding through the colder months, the BPW Winter Downhill Series promises four weekends of competitive downhill action in the heart of the Welsh mountains.
Entries are available now via the BikePark Wales events page. Riders are encouraged to book early, as places are expected to fill quickly.
The whole bike park will be open as usual on race days and the uplift will be running all day. No more sitting in the car waiting for your race run, simply hit some other trails to stay warm before you go against the clock.
Our amazing brand partners will be getting involved with prizes and will be present at select rounds so you can expect great support from the best brands out there.
