New Pump Track Coming to Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride
Construction of a new pump track at Calderglen Country Park will begin on 31 August 2026, giving riders in East Kilbride another place to ride.
The purpose-built track, located near the existing adventure play area, is designed as a family-friendly facility where riders can build confidence, improve bike handling, and gain pump track experience.
Construction is expected to finish before Christmas, though the opening date will depend on weather and project progress.
Pump Track Designed for All Abilities
The Calderglen pump track will feature tarmac, compacted gravel, and grass embankments, creating a durable, all-weather facility within the park.
The design prioritises younger users and skill progression, while remaining accessible to riders of all abilities. It will accommodate various wheeled activities, including some wheelchair access.
The track’s location near the children’s play area and the park’s walking trails offers families an additional activity when visiting Calderglen.
First Project in Calderglen’s 10-Year Plan
The pump track is the first project in Calderglen Country Park’s 10-year masterplan to enhance the park and its facilities for visitors.
Located northeast of the existing play area, the track will offer convenient access from the car park, entrance plaza, and new Gateway Centre, and will connect to the park’s active travel route.
Construction is scheduled to start on 31 August 2026, with completion anticipated before Christmas if work proceeds as planned.
The main children’s play area will temporarily close during construction for safety, but is expected to reopen for the September weekend and October school holiday.
Once complete, the pump track will expand Scotland’s network of cycling facilities and offer East Kilbride riders a new place to develop their skills.
