The refreshed Yer Tiz has been designed to reflect the evolving way people ride mountain bikes, and bikes themselves. The blue-grade trail has been fully resurfaced and widened, with new berms and rollers created to restore the fun flow of the original Yer Tiz, built in 2011. The trail now meets the needs of a wider range of riders, including advanced riders who can make the most of the trail’s playful design and optional red sections; less experienced riders building their off-road skills; and riders using non-standard off-road cycles (adapted mountain bikes). The newly re-opened Yer Tiz is a great addition to Bristol’s cycling scene, providing access to progressive cycling for a huge range of riders.

The accessibility features of Yer Tiz include:

Nikki Morgans, Leigh Woods Manager said: “Yer Tiz has many loyal fans who have enjoyed it over the last 15 years and I’m delighted that this refurbishment makes the trail welcoming for a wider range of riders. Cycling is an amazing sport and family activity, especially here in Bristol, and we know that spending time in nature is great for both physical and mental health.

“As a blue grade trail, Yer Tiz has plenty to keep experienced riders entertained, rollable features for younger or less experienced riders, and the widened surface and sub-10% gradients are suitable for non-standard and adaptive mountain bikes. I’m so excited to see our visitors enjoy it and I can’t wait to bring my own kids to ride it!”

The refurbishment of Yer Tiz has been carried out by trail building experts, On Track, and is made possible by Forestry England’s Access for All programme, supported by funding from Defra. This programme has supported a range of projects across England, from cycle trails like this one to inclusive play areas and Changing Places toilets; all with the aim of improving the accessibility and inclusivity of our forests through investment in infrastructure.
