Whippendell Woods Trail Area Opening Wednesday 29th October

We’re pleased to announce that Whippendell Woods’ new mountain bike trail area will officially open on Wednesday 29th October at 1pm, with a special ribbon-cutting led by Peter Taylor, Mayor of Watford.

This brand new free-to-use trail facility is the first of its kind in the area, replacing the informal trails that were removed to protect the surrounding SSSI, and developed in partnership with Watford Borough Council. The result is a carefully designed, fully sanctioned trail zone that blends seamlessly into the woodland, encouraging responsible riding and community connection.

Built by Bike Park Chilterns and made possible through grant funding, this project has allowed us to deliver a progressive riding environment right on Watford’s doorstep. Ideal for beginners, families, and experienced riders, it’s a huge step forward for local access to high-quality off-road cycling infrastructure.
