With Aaron Gwin looking back to his old, destructive self in Pietermaritzburg and Gee and Rachel Atherton returning to the top step of the podium in Cairns, the story of the 2014 World Cup was beginning to look all too familiar.

That was until Specialized’s Aussie atom Troy Brosnan split the old order to take the top spot in Saturday’s qualifying session.
