NWD8 - SMACK DOWN - Less than a week till the German premiere...
The European premiere had been celebrated in St. Raphael three weeks ago by cheering international guests. Now it is time for even two German movie premieres in Munich and Cologne. The show down of SMACK DOWN will be in the Ampere Club in Munich on Thursday, November 8th and in the Gloria Theatre in Cologne on Saturday, November 17th. As introduction, before the New World Disorder 8 – SMACK DOWN movie, a highlight cut from the Nissan Qashqai Challenge 2007 will be shown. Beside the longed for the movie itself, you can look forward to some signature products from pros like Steve Peat, Hans Rey, Cedric Gracia, Timo Pritzel and the Lacondeguy brothers. This stuff will be auctioned for the benefit of Stephen Murray (www.stephenmurrayfamilyfund.com ) and Tara Llanes (www.tarallanesroadtorecovery.com ). So, don't forget your wallets. In addition to the auction itself, Nissan will give extra money to the funds for every visitor. Derek Westerlund, founder of Freeride Entertainment, celebrates the tenth company anniversary with a motion picture that equals nothing ever seen before. Be sure, the most blatant and best mountain bike Freeride action is shown on New World Disorder 8. As customary for New World Disorder productions, "SMACK DOWN" is completely filmed on 16mm and in high definition, providing incredible tracking and static shots which where taken in Argentina, Israel, British Columbia, Europe and the US. Pros who joined the tour are Darren Berrecloth, Kyle Strait, Fabien Barrel, Jeff Lenosky, Cedric Garcia, Robbie Bourdon, Wayne Goss, Wade Simmons, Ben Boyko, Lluis and Andreu Lacondeguy, to name only a few. The first part of the movie is Andreu Lacondeguy’s and this guy really does rock, pushing Superman Backflips like there is no tomorrow. Concerning the tricks in general, a complete magazine of the most different calibers is being shot like out of a machine gun. Varying from bunny hops over cars and huge gaps to flipwhips and camel hand plants. The coverage of the biggest contests in 2007 – like Crankworx, the Nissan Qashqai Challenge or the Bearclaw Invitational – will provide a huge pack of insane tricks, too. Despite the pleasant anticipation, the sad side of this sport has to be kept in mind, too. This year Tara Llanes and Stephen Murray met their fate. Tara Llanes, a long-time downhill and 4X rider, did suffer a spinal injury crashing during the Jeep King of the Mountain finals in Beaver Creek, USA. Tara is paraplegic down from the hip since this day. Stephen Murray, former X-Games and Gravity Games Champion in the BMX dirt jump category, had even more bad luck. During the AST Dew Tour finals in Baltimore, USA, he fell hard when he went for a double backflip attempt. Steven is quadriplegic down from his neck now. The families of these two outstanding personalities raised a fund to support their beloved family members during the medical care and rehab. By auctioning signature stuff from pros and other Bike stuff sponsored by Kona, Camelbak, Mavic and Fi’zi:k at the NWD premieres, Tara and Stephen will be helped on their way to a hopefully complete regeneration. Following items will be auctioned: CAMELBAK backpacks including NWD8 movie - Munich & Cologne Fi’zi:k saddle Zea:k (individual item, special design) - Munich MAVIC Crossmax SX wheel set - Munich COMMENCAL DH frame from Cedric Gracia (exactly the same he rides in NWD8) - Munich OAKLEY clothing gear from Timo Pritzel (pants, jersey, glasses & TSG helmet) - Munich Brand-new KONA Cowan Dirt Bike - Munich Fi’zi:k saddle "Flash" (individual item, special design) - Cologne MAVIC Deemax UST wheel set - Cologne GT frame from Hans "No Way" Rey (GT Hans Rey special edition) - Cologne Troy Lee Design clothing gear of Steve Peat (helmet, jersey & pants) - Cologne KONA Cowan DS Bike from Andreu Lacondeguy - Cologne Nissan will support Tara and Stephen in a special way. Nissan puts half of the entire entrance-fees in addition on top. This money goes immediately in equal parts into both funds. Cedric Gracia, who dominated the last ten years of downhill racing, will join the premiere in Munich, and the Lacondeguy brothers, the upcoming Freeride superstars, will come to Cologne to party with you. In Munich the premiere will be held at the Ampere club and DJ Chrome will make you groove. In Cologne NWD remains true to the Gloria theatre the third year in a row, including an after party with hot funky beats from the DiscoDogs. Be there or be square!
