Beaumont wins 4X National Series & final Midland's DH

Rocky Mountain UK team rider Scott Beaumont scores two wins in one weekend, even though he was only at one race: find out how with Scott's full race report. Pretty cool weekend. I managed to get a couple of wins, even though I was only at 1 race! After 4 wins and a third place finish in the 4X National Series already, I had the overall wrapped up with a big margin over 2nd place so I decided to attend the final Midlands region DH Series race at Ludlow, UK. With a full entry of 300 riders, the race had a great atmosphere and a lot of fast riders. Practice was on Saturday, and I got the track dialled pretty quickly; the track was really dusty (which makes a big change after the Summer we have had in the UK) and it was riding well. It was probably one of the best tracks I have ridden! Onto Sunday and after a couple of practice runs in the morning I was ready for the first run. I had a perfect run pretty much and crossed the finish line in 1st place, but it was close, only 1 second separated the top 3, so I had my work cut out in the second run to hold onto the lead. I had a good warm up for the second run and looked at a couple of lines out of the start whilst I was waiting to go. As the last rider down the hill, there was a little bit of pressure, but I felt good. I hit all my new lines out of the start and rode the top half flawlessly. The woods in the lower sections were quite dark so I tried to ride smooth until I emerged for the last big tabletop jump and sprint to the finish. I gave it everything and crossed the line 0.3 quicker than my first run. No other rider improved their times so I stretched the winning margin out slightly, taking the elite win and fastest time of the day. It is a night time Downtown race on the streets of Edinburgh, racing from the Castle at the top of the city down to the town below. I am really looking forward to this as last year I finished 3rd on the streets of Bridgenorth. Hopefully I can go a couple of places better this time and win the event.
