Burgtec launches the Mk 4 Penthouse Flat pedal
- The Mk 4 is a new and improved version of this popular pedal which is now even more suited to trail and enduro rider as well as its loyal DH fans.
- A thinner and lighter pedal than its predecessor but with upgraded internals to ensure the heritage of bomb-proof reliability continues.
- Still machined and built in the UK but now at even more compelling price points of £99.99 for the steel axle and £149.99 for the Ti axle.
The Mk 4 Penthouse Flat is the latest highly anticipated platform pedal from Burgtec. Production and Prototype pictures have been doing the rounds on Facebook and Twitter but the production pedal is finally here. The Burgtec heritage has been established by using UK design and manufacturing and combining it with input from some of the world’s best flat pedal riders such as Brook Macdonald, Josh Bryceland and Luke Strobel.
Over the past 3 years the Penthouse Flat has been at the pinnacle of flat pedals on the World Cup circuit, claiming more podiums than any other flat pedal. With the Mk 4 Burgtec is now bringing this race experience in a pedal equally suited to the trail and enduro rider.
The Mk 4 builds on the strengths of its predecessor, the Mk 3 Penthouse Flat; oversized platform; Easy to remove stainless steel pin; 1mm concave dish; and the unbeatable flat pedal grip but now has new features of:
- Reduced 16mm profile. A reduced profile of the pedal was achieved by without changing the proven 12mm axle to achieve an optimum balance of thinness and reliability.
- Reduced weight. Of course with reduced profile comes a weight saving. The Mk4 now weighs 440 grams for a steel axle and 370grams for a titanium axle.
- New internals. The biggest change to the pedal is the one you can’t see. The Mk 4 now uses a dual bush and single bearing arrangement almost doubling the load capacity. This gives even smoother, more reliable spinning and increased longevity.
Burgtec are passionate about bringing the advantages of the highest performing flat pedal to a wider group of riders and have worked really hard on their engineering to bring the Mk 4 pedals to riders at even more compelling price points of £99.99 for the steel axle and £149.99 for the Ti axle.
