Endura Athlete Chris Smith Wins British 4X Series Masters

After not having raced in 15 years, British freerider Chris Smith got back into racing this year - and what a comeback he made: Chris won the National 4x Series in the Masters Category, the last stage of which has taken place in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, yesterday. Endura, clothing sponsor of Chris and a big fan of his dirt jump videos, would like to congratulate Chris Smith to his success!

The National 4x Series started at Afan, South Wales, in March this year. Chris was at the Afan skills park shooting some video the day before the race, and his team manager suggested to him to race the National 4x the next day – so Chris was up for it, and he found himself on the start gate the very next day.

“Last gate that I properly raced in was around 1998! I had a great time and managed to get 2nd in my first National on a downhill bike so things were looking promising for the rest of the season. A few days later a nice new 4x bike arrived courtesy of Identiti and I thought I would give the whole 4x series a go to see what happens”, says Chris Smith. “The whole series was great fun, travelling all over, meeting new people, and riding new places.”

Chris managed to win 3 out of 6 rounds, plus he achieved two 2nd places, and a closely fought battle for 2nd at the National Champs. With all this under his belt he headed into the final round in Leamington Spa with a good lead in the overall points standings. Racing was super close with a lot of BMX Riders coming in to race as their season is over now. Chris rode well, winning all but one of his motos.

“Then came the big final. I had a great gate and managed to take the win at the final round, and the overall National 4x Series win (in the Masters Category) too. It’s been a great season and I cant wait until next year to get out there again!” says Chris Smith about the National 4x Series.
