UCI DH World Cup 2013: Mont Sainte Anne - Trek World Racing Report
For Brook MacDonald and Neko Mulally it was tough to swallow the bad luck that befell them and three other riders as a freak 8 minute rain shower caused havoc for the riders that started around 3.40pm.
The venue had seen sunny periods most of the afternoon but at around 3.35pm the heavens opened up briefly and seemed to follow Brook all the way down the mountain. Neko started 3 minutes after Brook and had the worst of conditions.
After qualifying 10th and 11th respectively both Neko and Brook were confident of having solid top 10 results today, but had to settle for minor points. Meanwhile, George Brannigan pictured above, continued on his steady improvement after knee surgery and took a season best 22nd, while Greg Williamson had his best result ever on the legendary Mont-Sainte-Anne track with a 27th and only 7 seconds from the win.
Rob Warner of Red Bull TV found Brook shortly after the race and said "Brook, you honestly had the worst conditions, you had the shit#iest of the shi#." To which Brook smiled and said, "It's all about South Africa now", referring to the World Championships in 3 weeks.
Despite the difficult conditions, the team was happy overall with the progress made by all 4 riders during the week and after Crankworx next week will be aiming for strong results at the World Championships in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
