Trek World Racing XC 2012 - Saalfelden World Champs

In an amazing race of changing fortunes, Trek World Racing's Swiss duo of Luk and Math Flueckiger fulfilled a career long dream of standing together on a World Championship podium, and in so doing, became the first pair of siblings to do so in the sport. It was a roller coaster ride over the 8 laps that saw Math fighting through traffic at the start from a third row grid position, and Luk fighting back from around 12th place after suffering a motivation issue during the 3rd lap.

18 year old New Zealander Anton Cooper signed off brilliantly from his international junior racing career by taking the win here in Saalfelden (AUT) at the World Championships, and walking away with the coveted UCI Rainbow Jersey that he's been targeting for the whole season. In winning, he became the first New Zealander to ever stand on the top step at a XC World Championship.
