Work starts on the new Sherwood Pines Forest Bike Park

Work has just begun on a new Bike Park at Sherwood Pines Forest Park offering riders a number of disciplines, all with a common theme of fun, free riding and rider development. The Bike Park will include North Shore, The Swervedriver and Dirt Jumping! The North Shore will consist of two levels of riding from novice to hardened free rider. The Swervedriver uses both natural and man-made 4X style features to provide a fast, flowing riding experience offering multiple lines and choices down the hillside. The Dirt Jump area will have a number of runs from beginner to advanced. With a mixture of tabletops and gap jumps. As the pictures show, three runs have been cleared. The lines are long enough to get a six pack in, however the site is large and will allow for future expansion. The advanced run will also include a hip jump of some sort. Sherwood Pines Forest Park holds a matrix of singletrack and has a long-lived association with mountain biking. It was one of the first forests to host mountain biking and held classic races back in the 1980's. Since then the forest has provided a great venue for both family cycling and serious off road riding. The National Cycle Route 6 runs along side the Bike Park so its easily accessible and links into other woodland. A link trail enables access to Sherwood Pines Visitor Centre with Café, Bike Shop, WC facilities and High Ropes Adventure Course Go Ape.
