Brownbacks Racing: Charity Donations 2011

Where did last years money go? Find out below... Brownbacks not only organises some of the best racing around it also aims to support the local community. Our all volunteer team depends on the support of many unsung heroes to help deliver our races within Lee Quarry Rossendale. To recognise this support we aim to pass on as money as possible to the local community only retaining enough to ensure the following years race series. A cause close to our heart and an organisation that every mountain biker may need to call on one day is Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team. The team respond to numerous call outs involving mountain bikers often within the Lee Quarry our venue for the racing. This year we have been able to donate £1,000. Chris Smith is seen presenting the cheque to the team at the entrance to the quarry. It’s not just mountain bikers that we want to support, Urban Outreach in Bolton is a charity that reaches out to the most vulnerable and isolated within the Bolton area with practical assistance and help. Pictured is Dave Hashdi with a cheque for £500 to help support their activities. This year we have also setup an innovative coaching initiative to encourage new riders of all ages into the sport and we aim to develop riders into coaches to further expand on this in 2012. We are looking for skilled and experienced mountain bikers who want to be coaches and encourage anyone interested to get in touch. None of this would be possible without the generous support from our main sponsors Hope Technology, Leisure Lakes, Big Bear Bikes, Cooksons Cycles, Polaris Bikewear, Buff, SRAM, DHP11 and others and the assistance of Lancashire CC and Rossendale BC. The aim for this year is to raise over £3,000 from the events we organise, support us, support the sport, support local charities and enter our races and have some fun racing your bike! Can’t race? Then we need over 30 volunteers each event to ensure everyone is safe and the racing runs smoothly so get in touch. Brownbacks Racing
