Bontrager Barnstorm This Weekend

This Saturday, 23rd April, marks the first ever Bontrager Barnstorm indoor bike race. Held at Wheeldon Farm in South Devon the venue boasts a short but hugely exciting dirt track with a difference, it's in a barn! Short intense races, held in heats, will have the regions riders battling shoulder to shoulder for some great prizes thanks to the event sponsor Bontrager bicycle components. One of the great aspects of the race is that you can race on any bike, as long as it doesn't have an an engine, so you can expect to see riders from all disciplines of cycling including BMX, 4-cross and mountain biking battling it out. The organisers are hoping this event will be the shape of things to come for bike racing in the region, "This event has so many positive aspects for the region's cycling scene. Riders of all ages and abilities can battle it out and the track is a huge amount of fun, whether you've been bike racing for 20 years or it's your first ever race" said organiser Maddie Horton. "Wheeldon farm is a natural venue for bike racing on dirt and we hope a decent number of riders will come along and have a go at what is essentially a twist on the usual bike racing formats." If you don't fancy racing but would like to see what it is all about then spectators are welcome. There will be refreshments, race commentary and like DJs thanks to event sponsors 247magazine. Entry is still available online at www.shredevents.com or you can sign up to race on the day. For more information call Shred Events on 01752 66366
