Aston Hill Black Run Race
After the massive success of last year's races, the competitive edge returns to Aston Hill this Sunday 27 March with the Black Run Race.
"I'm so stoked!" said Pete Way, chairman of Aston Hill Bike Park. "This is the first of two races this year, and once again we're aiming to make them as fun and as memorable as possible. The Black Run is looking superb, we have a great list of fantastic sponsors and prizes, and some of the fastest riders in the south coming over to compete."
SRAM (including Truvativ and Rock Shox), Troy Lee Designs, Gusset, Halo, Identiti, Madison.co.uk, Da Kine, Mountain Mania, Beeline Cycles, Duffbag, Swiss and Swallow, Riders Retreat, Haven Distribution and Monster Energy are all generously providing prizes, Simon Slater of www.simonslaterphotography.co.uk is going to have a team of photographers at the race and will be offering same-day prints of racers at the the end of the event, and David Price will be on hand to offer sports treatments for the duration of the day.
If all the excitement makes you hungry then you're in luck; catering will be provided by the excellent Café in the Woods. As usual Extreme Medics will also be on-hand.
In total there are nine categories including hardtail and female, with each rider getting two timed runs. All race runs will be recorded by Mikrotime, with the faster run counting. The event will carry Regional A British Cycling status (as per 2011).
Online pre-entries start at £25.50 for members and shut Wednesday night. After that the only entries will be at the weekend and will cost £35.00, subject to there being places left.
