Woodland Riders Winter Series Rnd 3

Another early start for a trip to Tavistock for round three of the Woodland Riders Winter Series on another new, technical track. The track begins on a freshly cut piece of woodland with roots already able to be seen appearing through the mud. Walking down the track before practice we see it is going to be wet and slippery from almost whole week of heavy rain. After the top section of woodland come some dodgy roots and a short off camber section, followed by a fire road with a fast roll in which fires you off the road and back into the woods. The middle section of the track starts with a tight section of trees with a generous helping of roots, followed by a couple of switch backs and a very wet compression. The track then arrives at a man-made path. You drop down the steep slope, into a small drop followed by a very rocky compression/corner. Then comes probably the most technical part of the course, a huge rock garden with some very loose ground. At the start of practice the is no really well defined line but after a few riders go through some rocks become scattered showing a fast diagonal line which cuts across the slope. Staying high and to the outside seems to be the fastest route bringing you to another tight section of trees which are littered with roots and have multiple line choices. The final section of the track starts with a small jump from the fire road which shoots you back into the trees, into a couple of wet, muddy corners and finally onto the last stretch, a very muddy and wet straight to the finish line.
