New Red Mountain Bike Trail Build at Hamsterley Forest

Hamsterley Trailblazers MTB has initiated construction on a significant new red-grade trail section, connecting 5 Lane Ends to Poltys. This extension, designed with the smooth characteristics of the Accelerator trail but substantially longer, represents a major development for the trail system.

The project has successfully secured initial funding of £73,000 through multiple sources, including club resources, memorial contributions honoring Richard Holloway, and Forestry England support. Additional funding is required, and the club welcomes rider donations through their Local Giving platform. To maintain construction efficiency and control costs, riders are requested to avoid using the trail until completion.

The new section enhances the existing Hamsterley Red Trail network, which features a comprehensive 14.5-mile figure-of-eight circuit originating at Bedburn Car Park. The current route incorporates the Blue trail to the Grove before transitioning to a diverse combination of forest roads and singletrack paths. The trail configuration loops past Descend Bike Park before returning via engaging singletrack segments, establishing itself as a premier choice for cross-country enthusiasts seeking a complete riding experience.
