This has to be the best trail i have been to!
It has a good mixture of fast burms and dirt jumps to rooty woodland areas this is just amazing. However i would only recommend this to people with a high level of skill and experience.

If you can handle the odd black diversion on most trail centre red loops you should give it a go. Really good fun and a rewarding ride. A little hard on your bike though.

nice little skills loop up to black with some nice drops. Got my brother up to speed on the blue then left him to have a blast on the red giant. excellent trail if only you could book the weather.

The Red Giant is awesome, although be wary on the north shore when wet.

Review:
The Nevis range has many trails, however as we had paid for the gondola tickets we stuck with the Red Giant.

To be honest the first time down was scary, this would be a black at any other place. The second time down was exhilirating, unfortunately it started to rain on our third attempt making the boardwalk sections as slippery as ice, combine this with a total failure of my rear brake and it spelled trouble.

I ended up hitting the ground four times before I called it a day.

If you get it in the dry and combine with the 4x course it is fantastic, a word of warning there are a couple of drops at the end of the 4x that could cause problems to the novice or unprepared.

Not Red, not compared to other red graded at trail centres

Review:
First trip to Fort William, I ride a Hardtail with decent front forks with 140mm of travel and big tyres and quite an aggressive frame design.
Re the other reviews, more downhill \ Glentress black routes with the occasional sprinkle of less mental open rock face and steep drops. Not a family track unless you are all fairly proficient mountain bikers.
This is def not a red route, agree with other people, a fully rigid on this is probably as close to suicide as I would want to get to, it varies between very technical open rock with drops that can toss you out the front door and land you in more rocks and boardwalk which is lovely and smooth, but also with absolutley no room for error.
I would reccomend at least elbow pads to do this and prob a full face helmet, a major factor is fatigue when you get to the fast stuff at the bottom, especially on a hardtail, i fell off twice there, due to not having the strength to get onto the right line and then just giving up fighting the inevitable.
All that said, a nice wee run on a sunday afternoon, woudl have rated higher if it was marketed properly, I would suggest that the nevis range re-categorise to black\red-black or build some slightly less ominous chicken runs to avoid the biggest of the rock faces.
