Yo dude, the exact same thing happened to me on my 2006 Stinky Primo, am gonna try and barter for either a free one or heavily discounted. I think it's a fault in frame design, as the disc brake seems to put force directly on that weld. I think thats also why they changed it on the DOPE equipped bikes from 07 onwards.
back in 2000 i had a kona stinky with a decent warrenty that said if it broke they'd fix it (out of bounds as it was known back then) now i was dealing with weelies in swansea, i snapped my rear none drive dropout out of the chainstay took a few photos and faxed them, we had to send the frame too them but the rear end (complete) was replaced free of charge, i don't know what the warrenty on them are like now but to be charged for something which is obviously a manufacturing/design fault don't sound right to me, mine was afault in the welding and looking at the picture yours looks to be much the same i
i phoned paligap (kona importers and distibuters for the uk) and because i was ut of the warranty period they wouild not replace it for free. B*stards.
