just play around the first/last sections - but then you'll miss the "dragon's back"...

Review:
Easy fireroad climbing, average downhill except for the end downhill section which I thought was a blast - some moments for air if you know when they're coming.

Got to update my review - did the whole thing today and I have to say that the Dragon's Back section is like flayling down the writhing spine of Smaug! Excellent fun indeed!

Bit of a trek back though...

Take your time and treat it as a cross country excursion. The views from the start of the "Dragon" are among the best in Wales!

Go back every year

Review:
We've been doing this trail for a few years now. Start in the town and there's a massive road climb to sweat the beer out from the night before. Always good for a laugh and a good town to spend the night in afterwards. The trails got some good downhill sections but I feel there could be more considering the climbs involved.
Take spares tubes and tires its rocky

Starts Well & Ends Well

Review:
Rode this one for the first time on 19/05/08. The trails starts well after a fire road climb with some great single track, it then turns to being not so good in the middle, especially a section where you have to climb a staircase, which really looks like something you should ride down. It feels like you're climbing all the singletrack to go down fire roads! However the smiles come at the end with the final descents, the mini-freeride area has great jumps (smooth & fast) followed by a great final descent. Make sure you also do Penmachno while you're here!

Revisited on 09/07/09 & I stand by my initial review. It is worth noting that you can easily repeat the final descent & mini freeride area. Do the climb as usual, but at the cross roads with the large arrows, turn right & let the fun begin.

good review duffyc, top trail...

Review:
having rode this trail today i can honestly say it is brilliant.
its an old school trail with natural characteristics, the uphills are not bad at all. im not one of these super fit guys who does 2 trails in a day and i can honestly say that it is not that hard. the majority of uphills are fire road which is easy and the singletrack uphill is fun. people need to remember you have to go up to come down! when you are coming down its lots of fun with technical rocky sections ( pack spare tubes, me and my friend both had punctures). the 3 downhill sections at the end are superb with a jump section where you can get lots of air if your trying to build confidence. myself and my friend ride llandegla regularly and as much as we love its variety and good facilitys you cant beat a good old school trail like the marin...... like duffyc says, stay off the pies and you will love it :)
