This is a nice trail, with some hard technical climbs thrown in. a Few of the descents a really good and there are some table tops to play on.

Old school decent day out now with added thrill.

Review:
I first rode the Marin in 2009 or 10 and what a long time ago that feels now. I feel like the world has changed but has the Marin trail? Well not really. It is still the same rocky, uncompromising, quirky trail it always has been. It was built to last and it has and it is still a very different experience from your average trail centre. It's a good challenging day out mountain biking in some stunning scenery and on a hard tail is still quite some workout for both bike and rider.

The official literature lists the Marin as 25km long with 450m of ascent. It feels like much more ascent and indeed my viewranger app clocked it as around 23k with over 800m of ascent. I followed those little white marked posts all the way and don't think I got lost and either added anything or skipped a section and my legs certainly felt like they had climbed over 800 metres. So hard to say why the official climb figure seems so far out. So just something to be aware of and I would be interested if anyone finds the same.

But wait the Marin HAS changed. As of May (ish) 2016 there was a section added which by passed what was a pretty uninspired slog on road and forest track and turned it into a pretty full on flow fest. Again the new bits are testing in places but there is definitely flow there as you effortlessly accelerate accelerate through the trees into berms, roll ins and other features. With more thrills to your kilometres that can only be a good thing and turns the Marin into a solid 8 out of 10 for me.
