Summary:
A good and easily accessible trail centre that struggles to live up to the reputation and tyre-fall

Review:
"The home of mountain biking in Scotland" is a self fulfilling prophecy; the trails are busy and wellworn, the car parks stuffed to bursting at the weekends.

Well worth a visit but has been so over-hyped it can never hope to live up to the reputation.

The trails are good and there is a reasonable degree of variety but the numbers of riders, even on a week day, make the place feel small and claustrophobic. Trail maintenance and development is not to the standard one would hope for.

At the main car park there is a coffee shop, bike shop and changing facilities, however the Buzzard's Nest is less well serviced having only some grotty port-a-loos; this will be changing in the near future as the site has been leased/sold to a boutique eco-lodge holidays company.

Love this place.

Review:
Absolutely great trail centre with something for everyone from a gentle green through to an orange jump line. Plenty of hidden trails which aren't on the map to discover, a bike shop, cafe, showers and a campsite. Highly recommended!

There are loads of routes here to try and you will want to ride each many many times to master you skills and to prove you are a MTB hero! Logs to ride, berms to get cranked over on, jumps to fly over and drop offs to really test your bottle.
Highly recommended but when I visited the big wooden arch thingamajig was taped off and looked like it had been that way for a while.
This place could form part of a visit but there is so much great riding at Glentress and Innerleithen this place would be a bonus level for me rather than the purpose of the visit

Great trail

Review:
During a 2 day trip to Peebles in March I rode this trail after doing the 16k blue! I didn't rate it as much as the blue but I would still highly recommend the red. It was quite rocky and rutted in places, you might like that but I prefer smoother trails (such as the nearby Innerleithen red), I found my mate on his 29er was keeping with me on the downhill switchbacks where normally I would expect to pull away on my 26er. I am being picky though, if it hadn't have been for the fact I'd just rode the fantastic Glentress blue and wouldn't have been complaining! This place is an essential ride! Shame the car park was £5 for all day.
Check out my reviews for Glentress blue and Innerleithen red too :)
