Summary:
Worth a visit but once will probably be enough

Review:
I would say this place is borderline blue/red. It is quite rocky on the trail and there are lots of wide open (scenic) fire roads. There are some boards and man made rock features but not many descents and these are fairly tame. The more trails and locations you ride the better I think so defo worth a visit but if you enjoy places like Gisburn or Llandegla they offer everything and more that Grizdale offers.
One thing Grizdale does have is a fairly challenging black decent that isn't part of the red loop with some table tops

Used this site twice now, I'd agree with a lot of the comments made, its good for a run about but nothing too taxing there,car park is a bit steep on price though. I've just returned to mountain biking recently and i made the red and black trail, very wet!, with no issues on a faily basic xc bike, That said i would return its good for practise, workout and its on my door step. Looking forward to seeing what else is on offer around my location. but overall not a bad place to go and would return.

Yep, I've got to go along with the majority here and agree that this trail is a bit on the tame side. Expect a few lycra clad couples meandering on the fire roads, of which there is a lot of. I dare say 50% of tis trail is fire road. There's nothing particularly technical on here at all, apart from maybe the 'wall' boulders at the end. This was an interesting feature. There's a lot of wooden duckboards/shore style 'bridging' that adds an interesting contrast but again, this could have been made a little more hairy and technical to qualify this as a red route. If your'e in the area, I'd say give it a whirl. If you like your red trails more geared towards the blue end of the scale then it's probably an ideal taster of red trails, but for me personally and many other riders on here I think you'll be struggling to get yer teeth into this trail.

ive not rode here in a while but i remember the northshore been very fun, only when dry though otherwise your just gonna slip everywhere

Review:
This is a prime example of forestry commision failure. The area has such potential but has not been maintained for the amount of use it gets.First you part with to much money for parking which then tells you how much a brew in the cafe will cost. The trail is worn and heavily rutted, drainage pipes are showing through and the boardwalks are planed wood with zero grip.It's almost like they built it then forgot about it.
