Great Fun, Well Used

Review:
yeah it gets super busy at the Degla, but that's true of most trail centres i've been to, especially this year. as a result, there are some signs of wear and stuff, like the braking ruts etc on some of the burms.
That said, it is so much more fun than the red (which is still pretty damn fun) it's pretty gnarly in some places, has some pretty quick parts and there are one or two big, techy climbs to eat up. the first time you do it though, and you hit the north shore that's all over youtube, well, you'll be super buzzed for the next couple days. if you've been riding and are confident of your skill through single track and can handle the hills DO THIS TRAIL.

Some Good Some Not So Good

Review:
First visited this on 11/07/09 & it's definitely different from the other trail centres I've been to (so far 17 in the UK this year alone).

First the good... The black sections are certainly very enjoyable, decent enough jumps (they aren't massive so if you're into DH look elsewhere) good berms and a decent length. They're not too pedally as they make good use of the gradients, with good flowing sections. They are also clearly building several new sections (I counted at least 3 on my way round)

Now the not so good... Coed Llandegla differs from most other centres as it is run by a company, this is obvious from the point you arrive down a very long road to security entrance gates. Parking is at the more expensive end of things £2.50 for a couple of hours £4 all day. It's also exceptionally busy, this means in sections the trail is very worn (braking bumps aplenty). There are lots of warnings about the 'dangers' of mountain biking. As you ride round they don't waste opportunities to sell you things e.g. at the bottom of JJ's Jumps there's a sign 'Had a wobble - why not book onto one of our jumping courses', which just feels a bit too commercialised. It has the air of getting as much cash out of you as possible.

It's worth coming back to but probably on a weekday.
