Review:
I often ride this trail. It's very good when dry, and difficult when sustaining periods of rain. I have ridden both types of conditions at night and in the day.
It has some very interesting and challenging sections. They have some stone to put down and roll out and when that is done it will improve the riding of the sections dramatically.
The guys in the shop (Rutland Cycling, Top Lodge) are friendly and offer great service and fantastic advice.
Would recommend, worth a good morning and afternoons ride.

Great trail, lots to explore off the trail so has plenty of potential, new trails have started to appear, Should be able to create some good downhill sections including jumps through wooded sections.

Not to bad for a quick ride. Shame there is not that much gradient around the area!

This is fun trail, i've gone round it loads of times now and starting to see that its a little short, but there are places where you can make it longer, here is one of the little tracks i found, when going round the trail you will go down a road in the woods at the bottom of the road is a right hand corner and a sign showing the history of the woods in front of you, don't go round the courner just go straight on, the will be a small hill in to go part way up on the left you will see a dirt track, go down the first or third one, its a nice little loop then just head back to the road and carry on the trail

Another thing i do to make the trail a bit more exciting is - there is a hill climb which go into a set of "S" bends which i think it part 5 of the trail going up this isn't very interesting and its hard work!! but if you go down it! much more fun.

I will continue to explore the woods and report back

It would be nice to build some technicial parts into the woods somewhere

Summary:
Short but good red XC trail - most fun if you hammer round.

Review:
The Scartree Trail is not (as of May 2011) quite finished yet, with some sections still to be surfaced. It is all open though and is a great little red-graded XC trail - about 1/3 fireroad bash, 1/3 flowy singletrack and the final 1/3 more techy/rooted wooded singletrack. Nothing really tough to ride, but a few little technical features to keep you on your toes.

Only 6km long, but 2 or 3 laps is a good, fun little ride on a par with pretty much anything the nearest major trail centres (Thetford and Sherwood) can offer. The only thing it doesn't have is any REALLY fast, flowing downhill sections - all the downs tend to be straight and easy. If you look around there are some nice little off-piste trails to explore to make up for this though.

Best fun here is to ride it hard - just pootling round is fine, but to get the most out of the trail you need to hammer the singletrack sections as fast as you can.
