Description

King Alfred's tower is a monument owned by the National Trust which commemorates the victory of 879 which established the boundary of Saxons and Britons.

Much of the area around the tower is suitable for mountain biking with plenty of singletrack and some steep descents. There are no marked trails but you will find lots of paths heading off in different directions from the carpark which are worth exploring. A lot of the area is overgrown and littered in branches and fallen trees, but there is also plenty of scope for new unofficial builds.

Some of the land is owned by National Trust and signs are up stating permits are needed to ride. All in all, a nice location for a quickie...
