Gawton Downhill in the Tamar Valley near Tavistock, West Devon features four downhill tracks and an uplift service that is provided by the fantastic FlyUp Downhill.
Super-Tavi (double black) - The beast, the legend, the writhing dragon. Super-Tavi represents the elite level of Downhill track in the UK. There are few that rival it. The famous and the infamous have all flocked here to take. on this mythical course. It's notorious in all four corners of the globe as one of the most perfect creations in the downhill community. This is where you come if you want to test yourself against the best. There is no compromise, no quarter given. Faint hearted suitors are banished, sent scurrying back to the warmth and security of their homes to lick their wounds. If you fancy yourself as a handy downhill rider then this is your test
Egypt (black) - There is no doubt that Egypt is a wild and uncompromising track. It is one of the most technically challenging Downhill Tracks in the UK. Its root strewn path twists its way through the forest, down steep gradients, over rocks plummeting toward the silver river Tamar. Egypt is the preserve of the enthusiast, a gauntlet thrown down to those who think they can ride any track at speed. It will only give itself up fully to the devoted, but once mastered it is a purists dream and certainly a goal worth persuing
Proper Job (Red) - The newest addition to Gawton Gravity Hub, Proper Job is Downhill Mountain Biking¹s Siege Perilous (this was the empty seat at King Arthurs table that bore no name waiting for a knight to fill it). The track is set to become the most popular on the hill as its multiple features and huge berms flow beautifully down the steep valley sides. This track is FUN with a capital "F", ideal for those wanting to hone their skills before stepping up to the steep scary stuff. Once you can drop, skip and jump your way from top to bottom you know your ready to progress...or maybe like everyone else you will be having too much fun playing!
HSD (Red) - HSD is a thigh slapping, raucous, rip snorter of a track. By far the most popular track at Gawton Gravity Hub, HSD is all things to all people. With its smooth flowing multi hit lines and easy going curves it is within the reach of most folk who have spent a few hours on a mountain bike. Ride it at speed however and it becomes a rollercoaster challenge, full of opportunities to really get the adrenalin flowing. These attributes make it as popular with the hardcore Downhill elite as it is with those just dipping their toe in the water
