Review: Endura Snype Helmet

Check out MoreDirt's review on the awesome new Snype helmet from Endura. A first attempt at protection from the brand but it's well worth a consideration!

When Scottish clothing giants Endura announced plans for a new line in helmets we got a little excited at MoreDirt.

First Impressions.

She’s certainly a looker! Endura have certainly spent some serious time at the drawing board creating a helmet that ticks all the styling boxes! It’s also pretty lightweight and still has all the right safety certificates!

The quality of the helmet is always hard to judge straight out without some use but it feels great and it gives you that sense of security that you are always looking for.

If you bare in mind this is Endura’s first ever crack at a helmet it’s a damn good showing!

Styling.

This was the first thing that caught our eye. The slick grey camo and orange colour scheme that we had sent down as our test sample sounds pretty full on paper but in practice it looks tight and most importantly it will match with a whole lot of your pre existing riding kit.

It’s also available with blue and black accents on the top and in a full all white model if orange isn’t your colour!

Another appealing aspect to buying an Endura helmet is that you get a sweet free zip up helmet pod! This is certainly a pretty cool and unique selling point that adds a bit more weight to the Endura’s case. The case is perfect for putting your helmet in post ride and winging it in the back of the car or van and not have to worry about scratching it! It looks pretty rad too!

Technical details.

As we almost see in every product that’s launched in the mountain bike world, Endura have gone to town with the technical terms and jargon… We’ll outline some of the highlights…

'ClearThru' and 'HeadStream' airs vents maximise air flow with minimal vent narrowing. Both of these ensure that maximum airflow is channeled into the correct places on your head to keep you cool and keep your focus on the most important thing which is riding.

The vents are specifically placed to direct airflow over your head and exhaust from the rear and I would say that in the real world this is actually noticeable which is always a wonderful thing!

The actual external shape of the helmet is something that Endura have hit the nail bang square on the head! The top of helmets shell is flat therefore making it easy to mount a light with relatively little fuss! It features all the stuff that we have come to expect from trail helmets these days as our riding becomes more aggressive we are always looking for such as extended rear coverage and some highly adjustable straps and rear retention to dial in the fit!

The one handed micro adjuster gets the job done and is slick and smooth. When paired with the tidy anti bacterial padding which is easily removable and the super adjustable the chin straps!

Not so much of a technicality on the helmet but its certainly an important feature that the helmet is covered by the Endura Crash Replacement Policy and Endura Product Guarantee. They must be pretty confident in there product!

Conclusion

On the whole Endura have produced a pretty awesome helmet. Comfort wise its pretty good if you have what I would call a “standard” shaped head if there is such a thing. If you have a larger more breeze block shaped head like myself, I have worn more comfortable helmets but in time this is something endure will smooth out!

Weight-wise It’s certainly not going to strain your neck as its as light as feather. It looks good with it’s understated yet cool colour scheme and comes in pretty much on the money price wise with an RRP of £69.99 with a free helmet pod that is certainly worth a few quid if you act fast!

So there we have it… It might be Endura’s first attempt into the helmet game but a valiant one it is indeed! Yet another helmet to consider when it comes to buying your next helmet!

Super lightweight and stylish with the awesome free helmet pod if you act fast… Probably worth trying before you go buying if your head is a little more square than average!

Hahaha, I'll give this a miss then. My nickname at school was Square Head!
