Preview: Schwalbe British 4X Series – Round 4 & 5 – Falmouth, Cornwall

3 August 2015  |

After a fantastic year of 4X racing, the 2015 Schwalbe British 4X Series now moves to Falmouth in Cornwall for rounds 4 and 5 - the series finals.

The track in Falmouth is huge. With 11 corners and 4 of them being flat or off camber, this will be a true test for the riders this weekend and a fitting finale to the 2015 series. A long start straight, pro line doubles, rocks, logs, off cambers and huge berms are all in this vision of a perfect 4X track. Without a doubt it will provide some amazing racing. Fun for all and a challenge for the fastest riders – that's Falmouth! As if all that was not enough, the beach is just a 10 minute walk away!

Britain's top riders will be there, battling it out to see who will take the wins on the day and the overall series. Duncan Ferris has been on it all year and will again be looking for another final win in Falmouth. Nathan Parsons will battle Duncan all the way and will be also looking to secure the number 1 plate for 2016. Alex Metcalfe is the man in form at the moment with 2 top 6 rides in the last 2 4X ProTour events; he has momentum heading into Falmouth. Davi Roberts also has momentum after securing a career best result of 3rd in the 4X ProTour last week in Czech Republic. Luke Cryer has been hit with injury recently, but will be looking for a good result here. Will Evans is the local hero though and all the crowd will be cheering Will on as he looks to end his season with a valuable win. Dave Richardson, James Whitby Paul Bakewell and the Hudson brothers will all be in the hunt too. The depth of elite riders this year is at an all time high. It has been tough to predict any of the races throughout the year and Falmouth looks to be no different.

In the women's, numbers continue to grow and interest for women's 4X racing is at an all time high. Natasha Bradley will be the favorite after, what has been a breakthrough year. The new National Champion will be looking to add another win to her great year so far. Liz Fowler is back racing and will be looking for a good result ahead of the 4X World Championships in a couple of weeks. Tyde D'Souza is the local rider and will be looking to transfer those hours of practice into a win on her home track. Megan Wherry, Heather Kay, Claire Curtis and all the other women will be fighting to make the final and get their hands on valuable series points.
