VIDEO: World Cup - Pietermaritzburg Finals

Aaron Gwin and Manon Carpenter stoke the 2014 World Cup fire in South Africa.

The Parkin brothers bring us action and interviews from Saturday's Downhill finals in Pietermaritzburg that saw surprise winners in Aaron Gwin and Manon Carpenter.

After a disappointing 2013, Aaron was seen by many as an outsider for the win in Pietermaritzburg, but qualified fastest and was able to bring that form into Saturday's finals, winning by two seconds from Australia's Mick Hannah. Sik Mick had set the pace for much of the men's competition only for his time to be undone by an inspired Gwin. Home favourite Greg Minnaar came in third.

In the women's race, Manon Carpenter took her first ever World Cup win with an assured display. As fastest qualifier the pressure was on the Briton, but Manon showed no signs of nerves to record the victory. Despite being laid low by a virus for much of the past week, Rachel Atherton got second. Emmeline Ragot suffered a rear puncture late on in her run, but was still able to post the third fastest time.
