Race Preview – Schwalbe British 4X Series Round 2 – Afan

25 April 2016  |
Afan 4X Track

The Phil Saxena designed 4X track, is one of the best tracks ever seen in the UK, with a massive rock section, corkscrew bridge and pro line that has double jumps over 35 feet long!

Lines for beginners and Elites are catered for which makes this track so good for everyone. Racing is always close, passing is frequent and races are never normally decided until the finish line.

The track really showcases 4X and after a great start to the series in Chicksands 5 weeks ago, the British 4X team are excited for Round 2 in Afan.

Britain's top riders will be there, battling it out to see who will take round 2 of the 7 round series. Connor Hudson was on it at round 1 and will again be looking for another final win in Afan. Aaron Dalleywater, Rich Swales and Nathan Parsons were flying at round one. They will be looking to make it one better at Afan. After a year away from Schwalbe British 4X, Scott Beaumont will be making a much anticipated return to the British 4X scene. Injuries in 2015 prevented him from racing last year but he is back and fully fit. Lewis Lacey will also be starting his 2016 campaign at Afan and will be sure to be on pace.

In the women's, racing interest continues to grow and numbers are at an all time high. Natasha Bradley will be the favourite after taking the win at round 1. Natasha looked fast and consistent all day at Chicksands and with her focus being on 4X this year, she will be going for 2 wins from 2 races in Afan. Megan Wherry, Hannah Escott and Ellie Dewdney were the finalists at round one and will be looking for the win.

Why 4X...?

With racing categories available to male and female riders from 10 years old up to over 65 years old, 4X really is the sport that appeals to the masses. 4X hardtails, enduro bikes, xc bikes and dh bikes are all welcome. Whether you have 24", 26", 650B or 29" wheels, it doesn't matter; you will love racing 4X.
