Race Pre-view Schwalbe British 4X Finals

21 October 2016  |

The 2016 Schwalbe British 4X Series comes to an end this weekend at Harthill in Cheshire. After a fantastic 2016 season, the finals this weekend looks like it is going to be the biggest event in recent years.

The 2016 4X World Championships in Val Di Sole, Italy certainly seems to have inspired both Mountain Bikers and BMXers to give the sport a go. With plenty of new names on the pre entry lists including National Champions and World Champions in BMX, it is going to be very interesting to see who comes out on top this weekend.

The Harthill track, last year, provided one of the best races of the entire year. Whilst the weather wasn't great, the racing more than made up for it and the atmosphere was fantastic. The track has a sand base which is great as no matter what the weather the track runs perfectly. After a few weeks of preparation by the riders, the track is in great shape and ready to host the series finals.

With tight turns at the top, high speed in the mid section, pro line doubles and rhythm sections, this track has it all and will be the perfect end to 2016 Schwalbe British 4X season.

The drama on track is going to be intense as there are still many titles up for grabs including the Elite men's category. Defending Champion Duncan Ferris is under pressure from his friend and training partner Will Evans and with just a few points in it; this is going to be a very interesting battle. Team mates Dave Roberts and Luke Cryer are also battling for 3rd overall so there will be some great races on track. Throw into the mix Alex Metcalfe, Connor Hudson, Jack Hudson and the rest of the elites and this is going to be a battle all the way.

In Elite women's, 2016 4X ProTour Champion Hannah Escott will be looking to end the season on a high after sealing the world title 2 weeks ago in France. Natasha Bradley is back from injury though and will provide a strong challenge. Megan Wherry, Tyde D'Souza and Heather Kay will all challenge too. The women's race is always unpredictable and offers some of the most exciting racing at every British round.

All Schwalbe British 4X rounds are accessible to all. From rippers aged 10 years and older, beginners who can enter Fun (12 to 17 year olds) and Big Fun (18+) all the way up to Vets, there is a class for you. With entry costs of £30 for pre entry and £40 on the day, there is no cheaper way of racing your Mountain Bike all day long with no queues, great viewing for spectators and a fun atmosphere that will make you want to keep coming back for more.
